Morning of December 25, 2019, a team of doctors, nurses and employees of City International Hospital participated in voluntary blood donation. The program was implemented by City International Hospital and Hematology Blood Transfusion Hospital.

After more than 03 hours, BTC has received nearly 100 units of blood. Accordingly, this is one of meaningful humanitarian activities. Through these community-driven programs, the proportion of patients with anemia in surgery and emergency due to rare blood types has been greatly reduced in the past two decades.

International Hospital staff are excited to participate in blood donation very early.

Health benefits of blood donation

Reducing the risk of heart disease: Regular blood donation helps maintain the body's iron content, which helps reduce the risk of heart disease. Iron is essential for proper functioning of the body, but excessive iron intake can lead to oxidative damage, which is a major cause of rapid aging, myocardial infarction, stroke, etc.

Blood donation reduces the risk of cancer: Blood donation reduces the risk of cancer because cancer is related to excessive iron content in the body, which is the cause of the increase in basic damage in the body. During blood donation, this excess iron is removed from the body and thus, the risk of cancer is also reduced. When iron is released from the blood, it reduces oxidative stress on the body and prevents cancer of the liver, colon, lung and throat.

Help lose weight: Each blood donation will cost 650 Kcal. This helps you control your weight. However, the safest time to donate blood is about once every two to three months and not more. How often this depends on the health status, the level of hemoglobin and iron in the blood of each person.

Early detection of pathology: After donation, your blood will be screened and tested. Therefore, you can know earlier the risk of diseases through the blood.

The person who gets help sometimes can be your relative, family or yourself. The program will send a donor a gift including a training fee, milk and a certificate of participation from the Blood Transfusion Institute and City International Hospital.

This activity should be enthusiastically registered by hospital staff.

Depending on your health and weight, your doctor will order 350ml of blood or 250ml of blood.

After blood donation, volunteers were also given calligraphy from artisans.
