November 2, 2019, City International Hospital welcomed more than 100 parents to attend the prenatal program "Pain management in labor". Mothers express interest in this topic because they all want their labor to be safe and relieve pain.

Although having a baby is a normal and natural process, most women feel very painful. If a woman understands what will happen during labor and what she is expecting, with the support of family, friends and health professionals, this pain will be greatly reduced. Breathing exercises and relaxation techniques like listening to your favorite music are often helpful. However, many women still need medical assistance to manage pain during childbirth.

New parents are interested in the topic "Pain management in labor".

Dr. Luc Chanh Tri shares many methods of natural pain relief and medical pain relief. In particular, analgesic epidural pain is the most effective method to reduce pain during labor. The anesthetist will inject anesthetic into the epidural space in the delivery room to help the woman relieve pain. Women can feel uterine bouts but no longer feel pain.

Usually, epidural analgesia is performed when the cervix is open 2-3 cm and the woman is in active labor.

In addition, Dr. Tri shares many natural pain relief methods such as:

  • Relax by not focusing on pain, talking to family members, whispering to your baby, thinking about fun things to come when your baby is born.
  • Breathe: sneeze - breathe in or breathe - breathe in, breathe deeply - breathe slowly.
  • Change positions: walk around, swing, if restricted in the bed should move arms, legs, lying, sitting.
  • Massage.
  • Warm water helps relieve early stage pain. There is no scientific evidence for the effectiveness and safety of underwater babies.

With advances in medical field, pregnant women will no longer worry and can fully control pain during labor.

In the practical content, midwife bachelor Dao Thi Thuy Loan instructed the Practice of Exercise of Proper Breathing to bring useful and practical knowledge to pregnant women.

City International Hospital thanks the parents for their enthusiastic participation. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy, a good mother and a baby. See you again in the next prenatal program.
