Thanh Nien News - City International Hospital has provided emergency care and successfully treated pregnant women with severe blood loss after having had two major surgeries in Cambodia: placental striker with hemorrhagic surgery to arrest children and acute hemostatic hysterectomy.

4 October 2019, City International Hospital (HCMC) received S.Sokunthea (born in 1981, Cambodian) patient from Khema Clinic (Phnom Penh, Cambodia). Patients admitted to City International Hospital in critical condition: drowsiness, strenuous, stimulating, general edema, anuria, severe respiratory distress requiring mechanical ventilation.

According to the Khema Clinic history and referral records, the fifth pregnant woman had vaginal bleeding and had a placenta praevia from the fifth month of pregnancy. The patient has received intensive medical treatment for hemostasis and conception.

By week 28, after a massive vaginal bleeding, the patient underwent emergency surgery and had a hysterectomy to stop the bleeding in Cambodia.

However, bleeding continues to progress after hemostatic surgery. Despite intensive resuscitation, severe blood loss shock led to multiorgan failure, secondary coagulation disorders due to blood dilution and impaired hepatocellular function, mechanical pneumonia, surgical site infection.

Currently, after 3 weeks of treatment, the patient feels much better, oral intake is well absorbed and was transferred to the Surgery Department on the morning of October 28.
